Bio DC08

Rachel Murphy is Doctoral Candidate DC08 within the MSCA SMARTTEST network at the University of Twente's Department of Biomedical Signals and Systems (BSS). She will carry out research on the remote recovery monitoring of geriatric populations following hip fracture surgery. Her objective is to develop and clinically validate a multimodal physiological-based AI framework designed to quantify post-operative recovery trajectories. She is expected to establish a predictive analytical pipeline that relates high-dimensional human motion and vital sign data with the early identification of clinical complications.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Sport and Health Science from Dublin City University (Ireland) in 2021. She also holds a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Université Paris Cité, PSL University, and Arts et Métiers ParisTech (France), obtained in 2025. Her technical foundation is further supported by her work as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Medicine MEVIS (Germany), where she specialized in motion sensors for human movement tracking, biomechanical simulations, and surgical navigation.
