What is your research about?

My research centers on creating a contactless remote monitoring decision support system aimed at the early identification of health issues in young children with congenital heart disease, utilizing vital signs, physical activity information, and adaptive detection techniques.

 Why is this research needed?

Children born with heart defects can experience sudden health declines, and existing home monitoring techniques might fail to catch early warning signals. This study supports earlier, non-invasive detection to enhance patient outcomes and lessen the strain on families and healthcare services.

Where does your research takes place?

The research is primarily conducted at University Medical Center Utrecht and Utrecht University in the Netherlands, with secondments at GOAL3 aims to put research into clinical practice.

Who will benefit from this research?

Early detection and safer home monitoring will benefit children with congenital heart disease and their families. Additionally, clinicians and healthcare systems will gain advantages through enhanced decision support and fewer hospital admissions.

When did your project start and when will it finish?

The project started in January 1st 2026 and ends in December 31th 2028, with a three year duration.
