Zhaorui Yin is DC05 in WP2 in SMARTTEST at the Politecnico di Milano, working within the IoTLab under the supervision of Prof. Monica Nicoli. His research project is titled "Models and algorithms for human sensing and gesture recognition." The objective is to design models and signal processing algorithms for high-precision sensing of multiple humans inside the coverage of next-generation wireless networks (e.g., 6G, Wi-Fi 7). Specifically, he aims to exploit the sensing capability of mmWave MIMO systems in the 6D domain to enable human positioning, shape recognition, and pose/gesture estimation. He will integrate deep learning models to ensure reliability in complex indoor environments.
He obtained his Bachelor and Master’s degree in Electrical and Information Technology from the Technical University of Munich (TUM). His academic background provided a broad technical foundation in communication technology and high-frequency engineering. Zhaorui has pursued an international path, moving from China to Germany, and now to Italy to develop as a global researcher.
